My name is Shannon and I started connecting to the land in a deeper way since I graduated university. At 25 I began training at The Living Centre with Lorenna and Shantree Kacera. I learned about permaculture and enrolled in Lorenna’s Earth Wisdom Training course - a 9 month immersive course connecting us to our primal wisdom and self. That was the initial spark that has helped light the way over the last 11 years while I grew my first company, Booch.
Over the years I was drawn to deepen my herbal knowledge and so I began enrolling in herbal medicine courses. I joined Christine Dennis’s 7 month Plant Consciousness course and the following year signed up for the Soul of Herbalism course with Valerie Paquette for the next two years. I deepened my understanding of herbal medicine and found myself so deeply connected to the land.
I moved to the small town of Union, Ontario in 2019 and my husband became a Dahlia Flower Farmer. I also planted my medicine wheel garden and began growing healing herbs that I now use in our product offerings.
Living in Union means that I am just minutes away from the shores of Lake Erie, and I wanted to open a small retail shop in the little beach town of Port Stanley because I am in love with the community and pace of life here. It's a lot slower, with less hustle & bustle, which is more aligned with the way nature intended (and my nervous system!).
From the Land is a darling of a gem shop located on Main Street in Port Stanley, towards what the villagers call Little Beach. I offer the community and beach goers unique fermented products like Fire Cider, Lemongrass Tonics, Ginger Beer, Apple Cider Vinegar and Elderberry Syrup.
I continue to push my creative edge and experiment with new ferments all the time, always using herbs (and knowledge) that I've learned from 400+ hours of studying them. I also offer sustainable herbal teas, tinctures, flower essences, and glycerites at the shop.
It is my pleasure and joy to welcome you to visit our shop at 208 Main Street which opened May 2nd 2024 to serve as a place where you can connect with the products we offer and ultimately the Earth.
My vision is to uncover our wild and innate connection with the natural world through products made with ingredients from the land.
